Snowboard frontflip problem?

Ok so today I decided that I was going to try to frontflip and I thought that doing it off of a steep hill would be a way to learn it instead of off a jump. So I tried that a lot of times and I kept landing on my shoulder. I was popping off of my nose and idk what I am doing wrong. Any constructive ideas are appreciated
