HPV. General question.?

I am seeing a girl who was diagnosed with HPV 9 months ago. My question is this. She has not had an outbreak since being diagnosed. Does this most likely mean that her body has cleared itself of the infection? Or is this like and can be dormant for some time before reappearing. Also, what are my chances of becoming infected between outbreaks?
