I have to relocate. My choices are Leicester or Nottingham. Which should I choose & why?

I have to relocate to Derby with work. I dont really like Derby that much, so my choices are Leicester or Nottingham. I like the idea of lots of shops in Nottingham, but worried about the crime and not sure where is best to live. As for Leicester, I like the place, but worried it'll be too quiet and difficult for my GF to find a job. Any suggestions on which one I should go for?
